Term 1- Garden of Eden - Mural


Folio development: 

  • Creative tree that depicts 'Tone' to create a 3D effect ('Form')

  • Find several photographs that could be used as inspiration to design the MURAL (related to your subject matter.

  • 4+ Sketches of your subject matter e.g. rocks/waterfall/trees and grasses

  • Trial Acrylic painting Medium within you selected Subject matter. Ensure a high level of tonal range and blending to create form.

  • Reflective annotation on trials and experiments * what worked/didn't, key Art Elements/Principles used.

  • Art theory: Chapter 6.4, 6.6, 6.7 - Art is book.

Term 2 - Perspective Course

Portfolio requirements: 
  • 1,2,3 Point Perspective Drawings (Convex & Concave trials) 
  • A variety of compositions sketched (4+)
  • watercolour painting and inks/fineliners: tonal/rendering trials and draft final
  • Presentation
  • Annotation (reflections: what worked/didn't, key Art Elements/Principles used and effect it creates) 

Mini Artwork #1 - 1 Point Perspective “Falling objects” 
​Mini Artwork #2 - 2 Point Perspective “Interior” - based on: Inspirational imagery   *(sourced) 
 
Large Artwork #3 - 2 Point Perspective “free choice” 
 

Subject: Free choice (interior/exterior)
Perspective: 2 –point perspective.
Medium: fineliner and watercolours on watercolour paper. Or acrylic paint and markers on canvas board.

Students should begin by Portfolio development:

1 – brainstorming ideas 20+,
2 – finding inspirational images 4+,
3 – developing design layout/composition 4+,
4 – trialling mediums
5 – trial final,
6 * annotate & record thinking and process.

Term 3 - Realistic Portraits 

Portfolio requirements: 
  • Brainstorm Portraits (Expression, angle/view, mediums, meaning, subject matter)
  • Gridding-up technique overview (mini trial - using grey lead pencils)
  • Observational drawing technique overview (mini trial - using charcoal)
  • Tracing technique overview (mini trial - using ball point pen) 
  • Medium and techniques trials/experiments 
  • A variety of compositions sketched (5+)
  • Ballpoint pens, watercolour painting, inks/fineliners: tonal/rendering trials
  • Draft of final 
  • Presentation
  • Annotation (reflections: what worked/didn't, key Art Elements/Principles used and effect it creates)
